Listening to the radio the other, I heard the presenter read out a piece from one of the listeners on what wonderful a thing it is to celebrate Christmas and all of life’s festivities like weddings, birthdays, new jobs, babies and all the other delightful and enormous events in our life. But to remember these days are special because they are not the everyday and nor would we want them to be, and how important it is to celebrate the ordinary moments. The the smile of a stranger, the beauty of the setting sun, the fresh smell of your morning coffee. I thought how true that is and often we are swept along in a wave of jobs to be done, places to be, emails to respond to, and forget so often to take a moment to pause and absorb, to celebrate those perfect little moments.
With this thought in mind after I had dropped George off at work the other morning I decided to make the steep climb up the hill from our house and watch the sun climb over the summit above us, and it was most definitely worth the frosty climb to the top, making an ordinary day seem extraordinary and full of potential as it always is. The sky a perfect colour, I enjoyed the pink light of the dawning sun as it was reflected off the clouds. On a practical thought after my walk It did also make me realise I may need to invest in some new walking boots as mine longer seem to be water tight.
